What are Voluntary Benefits?

Voluntary benefits offer a wide range of coverages through employers to the employee at a discounted or zero cost. As the name implies, “voluntary” benefits are offered by employers wanting to go the extra mile beyond the basic benefits they are legally required to offer to their employees. Those benefits may include coverages for disability, critical illness, group life insurance, and more. We’ll go into a bit more detail about the types of voluntary benefits further down this page.

Voluntary Benefits are Important to an Employee

When an employee has extra coverage their quality of life is better protected.
Employees with voluntary benefits may be able to:

Voluntary Benefits
are Important for Company Goals

Studies show that employees consistently rate benefits over wages. Even when the cost of offering voluntary benefits to employees is very low, the employer still gains an advantage.

Offering voluntary benefits also gets those valued employees in your door in the first place.  With only about half of businesses offering voluntary benefits, your company will stand out above others and bring in the sought-after workers.

Types of Voluntary Benefits?

We offer a wide range of voluntary benefits including:

Disability

Hurt and can’t work? At this stressful time in life, a disability policy will provide a financial safety net and peace of mind by making sure your paycheck keeps coming even when you can’t keep working.

Accident Plan

Life happens. And with life comes accidents. Be protected against loss if those accidents come your way. Benefits are paid directly to the policy holder without having to jump through hoops.

Critical Illness

When dealing with a critical illness, the last thing you want to do is worry about the incurred medical expenses. This policy covers over 20 different major diseases and fills in the gaps where your health insurance lacks.

Cancer Plan

A plan that covers expenses during your cancer journey, including unexpected expenses like travel, so that you can focus more on getting the treatment you need and worry less about the financial burden.

Life Insurance Policy

Give your family the peace of mind of being financially protected when you are no longer with them. We make it easy to get life insurance at a reasonable rate.

The Costs of Voluntary Benefits?

One of the great advantages of voluntary benefits is the customizable cost options.

You as the employer are in control of the cost of offering voluntary benefits to your employees.  There are options for you to pay nothing towards the benefits, pay all of the premium for your employees, or somewhere in between.

It will also cost you a small amount of time commitment to learn about the benefits, pick which ones to offer, plus about 3 minutes per employee to set up their payment deductions for said benefits.

How to Get Started

Ready to stand out from the competition, bring in quality workers, and increase the overall satisfaction of your employees?

Here’s how the process will go:

Make a phone call or reach out by email to let us know you want to set your company apart by offering voluntary benefits.
We are ready to chat with the owner or manager of your company about all things voluntary benefits. We can offer you the lowest prices with the best options. Once you reach out to Iron Horse Financial, we will set up a time and place to meet. We are a bit old fashioned in that we love meeting in person to have a face to face conversation. But we are also available to meet via video chat or teleconference if that is your preference. At the meet up you can ask any questions you may have, go over all the perks of offering voluntary benefits, and find the benefits package that best aligns with your company’s goals and values.
After you’ve been given all the info you need and have decided what options you want to offer, you will sign Form 4040 to get everything official and set up.
We will come to your company so that we can explain the voluntary benefits your company now offers to them. We can either meet with the employees as a whole group, in smaller groups, or individually.  Whatever works best to keep your business running smoothly and without too much interruption. Iron Horse Financial will answer any questions your employees might have, show them each benefit you are offering, and help them enroll for the benefits they prefer.
After we help your employees take advantage of the new benefits you offer, your one final step will be to set up deductions from your employee’s paychecks. Iron Horse Financial will provide you with a detailed spreadsheet of each employee, what benefits they have chosen, and the exact amount that will need to be deducted from their paychecks.

What are You waiting for?

Voluntary benefits will help your company accelerate towards reaching its goals, at little to no cost to you, by creating a more productive work environment, attracting quality employees, and building a more loyal workforce.
